Manage field level access
You can add and remove field-level access to form fields and attachment fields. This allows you to assign read or write access, or even hide a field from a group of users.
Open a form in security setup mode.
For forms, see Set access to form fields .
For attachments, see Set access to attachments .
- At the top right of the form, select one of the following options from the dropdown.
Option Description Field editing is turned off. Assigns write access; paints selected field green. Assigns read access; paints selected field yellow. Hides field (or entire section) from selected user group; paints the field red. Default setting; paints field gray. - To assign the selected access to a field, select a field to paint it, then continue selecting all fields that should have the same option.
- Repeat the process for each option you wish to set or change.
- To hide an entire section (including fields) from a user, paint the section header as hidden.
- Painting section headers with any other option does not affect field access in those sections.
- Click Save.
- To remove all security right assignments from a field, select and paint the field gray.
- In the User Group grid, use the check boxes to assign access rights for each field.
Note
Any fields marked Undefined assume the access right settings as defined in the grid. Fields with a field-level security setting of Undefined may be hidden from the user's view by selecting Hide undefined as part of the Edit field access settings.
- Click Save.
