Address validation
symplr Provider address validation is an optional feature that may be enabled by your symplr Provider administrator via the System Information form. It is available to all customers based in the United States and Puerto Rico, and no additional fees or licenses are required to use it. The feature ensures the accuracy of U.S. and Puerto Rico address information entered into the symplr Provider database by cross-referencing it with Melissa database that is updated monthly. In addition, address validation status and date fields can be painted or selected to include in queries.
-
If you use browser autofill, please see symplr Provider and browser autofill
-
If you set field access, do not paint the address validation fields as Read Only, as this will prevent any auto-updates to those fields.
Your Application System Administrator can enable address validation on the system. When enabled, you can expect the following behavior:
-
After typing at least four characters within the Address box located on the Provider Addresses, Group Practices, or Institutions forms, address suggestions already validated by the Melissa database will appear for selection. If you enter an address located outside of the U.S. or Puerto Rico, no address suggestions will be offered.
-
You can use the up/down arrow keys, or mouse, to move through the address suggestions.
-
After selecting one of the suggested addresses, either click the mouse button or press the Enter or Tab key on the keyboard. Clicking the mouse button or pressing the Enter key will populate the address fields with the selected address and the cursor will remain in the Address box. Pressing the Tab key will populate the address fields with the selected address and move the cursor to the next input box.
-
When an address suggestion is selected, a status of "Valid Address," the date the address was entered, and a green check mark icon will display below the address fields.
-
If a validated address is linked to other providers and/or group practices, then all linked records will display the same address validation status.
-
Rural Route addresses must be entered in the following format: "NN RR N" (e.g., an address of "RR 2 Box 152" would be entered "152 RR 2" in the Address line 1 field).
-
Grid view will not offer address suggestions; however, it will display the relevant icons (e.g., green check mark icon, blue information icon, or red warning icon).
-
The address validation status and date fields can be painted or selected to include in queries.
- Each address in the database will display one of the following three statuses: "Valid Address," "Address not checked," or "Not a valid address."
Valid Address: This status means that a user has selected a suggested address (applies to Address line 1, City, State, Zip).
Address not checked: This status means the address has not been validated through address validation.
Not a valid address: This status means an address was entered without accepting an address suggestion.
NoteYou are not forced to use the addresses suggested by the validation service; however, addresses entered without selecting an address suggestion will display a status of "Not a valid address," the date the address was entered, and a red warning icon below the address fields. An existing address will display a status of "Address not checked," a blank validation date, and a blue information icon until a user updates the existing address (at which time the status and accompanying date will be updated as well).
